Compact distributed control system ( DCS ) for small to medium size applications. ABB's Freelance 800F control system combines easy engineering with an open, modern system architecture supporting integration of all common fieldbuses: FOUNDATION, PROFIBUS, or HART.

	CONTROLLERS Two types of controllers are available: AC 700F and AC 800F. A Freelance 800F system can consist of one or more controllers and can be extended with I/O units. Redundancy is supported. Fieldbus-compliant I/O components, such as remote S800 or S900 I/O or field devices, may be connected directly to AC 800F via fieldbus modules.
	AC 700F Controller AC 700F is particularly suitable for small applications with 16 to 256 I/Os. CPU module is equipped with display, control network Ethernet port and two MODBUS serial ports. Up to 8 local S700 I/O modules can be directly plugged in.
	AC 800F In addition to usual tasks of a "conventional" controller, AC 800F distributes process and diagnostic data from four fieldbus gateways. If required, fieldbus types may be mixed. Suitable for installation in control room and in the field.

	I/O SYSTEMS For AC 700F controller - S700 local I/O. For AC 800F controller - S800 or S900 Remote I/O via Profibus. Rack I/O when using Rack CPU.
	S700 I/O Digital and analog S700 I/O modules are available. They can be simply plugged onto the terminal units – for local expansion of the CPU. Currently max. eight local I/O modules can be connected to one CPU. Channels are configurable for maximum flexibility.
	S800 I/O S800 I/O features include: comprehensive coverage, flexible configuration and installation, ease of set up, reliability and accuracy. High Integrity (SIL3 certified) modules for safety-critical use are available also.
	S900 I/O S900 provides all input and output modules needed for intrinsically safe field signal connection. The field signals are amplified, electrically isolated, output via internal serial bus and converted to PROFIBUS DPV1 protocol.
	Rack based I/O Rack I/O will be used with rack CPUs DCP10 or DCP02. Rack CPUs have no acces to fieldbus based I/O or field devices. Together with AC 800F, Rack I/O may be used when a Rack CPU was replaced by AC 800F or if SoE functionality is necessary.

	ENGINEERING Control Builder F is used for off-line and on-line configuration of AC 800F and AC 700F controllers. Supports IEC 61131-3 languages and has built-in support for FOUNDATION Fieldbus, PROFIBUS-DP and device configuration via FDT/DTM.
	Control Builder F Comprehensive function block library with industry proven and tested functions. When adding a function block in controller, corresponding faceplate is created at operator level. Application programs are formally checked for completeness and consistency.

	OPERATIONS Numerous features and functions facilitate and improve operation, monitoring, and optimizing of process or enterprise. Different solutions are available:
	DigiVis DigiVis provides process visualization under Windows XP with: dual monitor operation, graphic displays, faceplates, group displays, trend displays, auto-generated system displays, sequential function charts, shift logs, event logs, and data archiving.
	800xA Operations Connection to 800xA Operations provides enhanced operator functionality: four-monitor operation and client-server architecture with up to 40 workstations. 800xA Operations allows for connection of several Freelance-islands under one operator interface.
	Process Portal (Operate IT) Process Portal (Operate IT) for higher demands - offers client/server architecture. Produce IT Batch is an option, enhancing operator workplace with batch and recipe management.
	Maestro UX Maestro UX provides comparable functions to Process Portal on UNIX platform.
	Tenore and Conductor NT Other operator interface alternatives.

	800xA for FREELANCE 800F System 800xA for Freelance 800F provides integration connectivity between Freelance 800F control environment and System 800xA extended functions.
	800xA Batch Management 800xA Batch Management can be used either with DigiVis as Operator Workplace, or with 800xA Operations.
	800xA Operations Freelance 800F may be enhanced with 800xA Operations to meet additional requirements, e.g. if you have the need to connect several Freelance systems to a common operator level in very large plants.
