About the Plant
The Three Gorges Hydropower Station is comprised of two power plants, situated on each side of the central spillway, with a total of 26 generating units. Each generating unit has a capacity of 700 MW, the size of a baseload powerplant. The total capacity will be 18200 MW, with a planned annual power generation of 84.7 billion kilowatt-hours. When completed, it will be the single greatest power plant in the world.
